Museums exist to reflect the community to which is serves.  Chiefswood stands testament to the enduring legacy of the Johnson Family and within the societal sphere of Six Nations in the 19th century.  Home to a Mohawk Confederacy Chief, and infamous daughter-Emily Pauline Johnson; the site is an invaluable educational tool to the Six Nations Community and beyond.

The Museum Program:

The program provides your students with an opportunity to demonstrate a variety of skills in order to meet some of the Overall and specific expectations of the Ontario curriculum.  During this one hour tour, your students will look at various aspects of Six Nations History, the Johnson Family Legacy, the childhood of E. Pauline Johnson, while viewing rare artifacts found throughout the home.  The tour group will be divided into two groups.  One group will go into the mansion where a guided interpreter will give them a tour.  The other group will tour meadow/engage in an activity in the summer kitchen.  At the end of both tours students will gather near the summer kitchen for a discussion of what they have learned.
